Here’s my new build. The body is made from a single piece of perfectly quartersawn SIPO mahogany, and the neck is a true one-piece of perfectly quartersawn Sapele—no laminates, no joints.
The flamed spalted maple top is something special. Under vacuum, pigments were absorbed into the softer, more porous areas of the maple—those unique, exposed regions characteristic of spalting. This absorption happened in unpredictable, organic patterns, creating non-natural, almost fluid-like hues. Once the pigment was drawn in, the entire top was stabilized.
