Chelsea 4-4 Man City. Arsenal 3-1 Man Utd. There have been plenty of great encounters already in 2023/24

The Premier League is only in November and we have already been treated to a host of brilliant matches, packed with goals and plenty of drama throughout.

Chelsea’s 4-4 thriller with Manchester City on Sunday was the latest fixture to leave fans on the edge of their seats and features on our list of the best matches in 2023/24 so far.

Man Utd 3-2 Nott'm Forest, 26 Aug

For the first time in Premier League history, Manchester United trailed by two goals inside four minutes.

Christian Eriksen pulled one back before Casemiro equalised after the break. Forest captain Joe Worrall was then sent off, and the 10-man visitors eventually succumbed when Bruno Fernandes converted from the spot with 14 minutes remaining.

Newcastle 1-2 Liverpool, 27 Aug

Anthony Gordon’s 25th-minute goal and Virgil van Dijk's red card three minutes later looked to have set Newcastle United on their way a second successive home win, but substitute Darwin Nunez had other ideas.

The Uruguayan struck in the 81st minute before scoring in the third minute of stoppage time to seal a dramatic victory for Liverpool.

Arsenal 3-1 Man Utd, 3 Sep

Nothing could separate these two until the sixth minute of time added on, when Declan Rice's first goal for the club, followed by a Gabriel Jesus strike, secured the victory.

Moments before Rice struck, United thought they had scored a potential winner, but substitute Alejandro Garnacho's goal was overturned for a narrow offside.

Spurs 2-1 Sheff Utd, 16 Sep

Spurs were still trailing 1-0 after seven minutes of stoppage time, but substitute Richarlison equalised and two minutes later, the Brazilian set up the winner for Dejan Kulusevski.

It was the latest minute in a match that a Premier League team have ever been losing before coming back to win in the competition’s history.

Man Utd 2-1 Brentford, 7 Oct

In keeping with the season theme of late, late goals, this match featured two from Scott McTominay.

After being brought on in the 87th minute, the Scot's double in the third and seventh minute of second-half stoppage time lifted the roof off Old Trafford and gave Erik ten Hag a much needed three points.

Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal, 21 Oct

Chelsea make their first appearance on this list, starting with this dramatic four-goal encounter against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer and a first home goal for Mykhailo Mudryk put Chelsea 2-0 up, but a 35-yard strike from Rice brought the Gunners back into the contest, and Leandro Trossard netted the equaliser in the 84th minute.

Brentford 3-2 West Ham, 4 Nov

There must be something in the water when teams from London meet this season. Brentford went ahead, but West Ham United hit back to lead 2-1, with Jarrod Bowen making history by becoming the first Premier League player to score in each of his opening six away matches of a season.

The outcome could have been different had Michail Antonio left the ball for Said Benrahma to score a tap-in, but instead the former fired wide.

However, the Bees would take advantage of that miss after the break, with an own goal from Konstantinos Mavropanos bringing Brentford level before Nathan Collins completed the turnaround.

Spurs 1-4 Chelsea, 6 Nov

One of the Premier League's most eventful matches EVER. Two red cards and eight yellows were awarded, five goals were disallowed or overturned by VAR at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 23 minutes of added time were played and much of this was in the first half!

The action did not stop after the break either, which was eventually concluded with a hat-trick from Nicolas Jackson to give Mauricio Pochettino a memorable return to his former club.
